The new Sketch feature allows users to draw rough outlines directly within the ChatGPT interface. By typing @Sketch in the chat box, a drawing window opens, enabling the users to create a sketch that the system then transforms into a detailed image.
The tool supports iterative refinement through direct annotations. In a test by The Verge reporter Jay Peters, a mouse-drawn cat doodle was converted into a realistic photo, and the eye color was modified multiple times through specific notes on the image.
ChatGPT Images 2.5 also brings general performance improvements. OpenAI states that the new version offers more natural lighting, richer textures, and better adherence to multi-turn editing instructions compared to the previous version.
Image generation latency has been reduced by up to 50% compared to Images 2.0. The update is currently available for ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex users across desktop, mobile, and web platforms.
