OpenAI has introduced Intelligent UI for ChatGPT, a new operational mode for the GPT-6 model. This update allows the AI to generate responses containing visual and interactive elements, such as charts, diagrams, maps, buttons, and forms, alongside standard text.
The model autonomously selects the most appropriate format for its output. For instance, it can present comparisons in tables, explain complex topics via interactive diagrams, or provide functional tools like expense calculators with sliders for user interaction.
To support this functionality, OpenAI developed a library of native components and a specialized compiler. This system enables the interface to render incrementally while the response is still being generated, allowing users to modify parameters directly within the chat.
Intelligent UI is not applied to every query; the system defaults to standard text when visual elements are unnecessary. The rollout began on October 7 for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, followed by Free and Go tiers on October 8.
The system utilizes different model versions depending on the subscription tier. Paid users access the GPT-6 Sol model, while Free and Go users receive responses powered by the GPT-6 Luna model.
