Qualcomm unveiled its sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition mobile platform at the 2026 Snapdragon Summit. The chip is built on a 2nm process node. Its CPU features a peak clock speed exceeding 5.0GHz, delivering a 13% performance boost, 37% better energy efficiency, and 15% faster response times compared to previous versions.

The platform's GPU integrates Adreno Matrix Cores designed for AI workloads and includes 18MB of dedicated high-speed memory. These enhancements result in a 44% increase in GPU performance and a 40% improvement in energy efficiency. OnePlus has confirmed that its upcoming OnePlus 16 smartphone will be among the first devices to feature this new processor.

The OnePlus 16 will launch with ColorOS 17 and introduce a 165Hz global high-refresh-rate display. The device features a narrow-bezel design with rounded corners and will be available in three color options: Tomorrow Starlight, Dark Forest, and Mars Masterpiece.

According to industry reports, the handset will be equipped with a 9000mAh battery, which is currently the largest capacity among new flagship smartphones. The device also utilizes an OPPO power management chip to support low-voltage discharge. Additional expected specifications include a 200-megapixel primary camera and support for 185Hz gaming refresh rates.
