The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has finalized the GENIUS Act rule to establish a federal framework for payment stablecoins. The US Treasury announced the regulation, which aims to strengthen the position of the United States in the digital asset sector.
The new rules will officially take effect in January 2027. The framework introduces formal requirements for stablecoin issuers, including specific standards for reserve backing and risk management procedures.
Market participants are now preparing for the implementation of these standards. Investors and industry observers are also tracking potential future legislative actions from the US Congress and the Federal Reserve that may influence digital asset valuations.
