Nvidia intends to ship approximately 500,000 units of its new RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell workstation GPUs to China every quarter. The company expects these shipments to generate about $6.5 billion in quarterly revenue, totaling $26 billion annually. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in late December 2026.
The RTX PRO 5500 features 84 GB of GDDR7 ECC memory, 21,760 CUDA cores, and a thermal design power of up to 600 watts. The hardware is optimized for AI inference tasks. In China, the unit price is set between 85,000 and 90,000 yuan, which is approximately $13,000.
By classifying the hardware as a workstation GPU instead of a data center chip, Nvidia aims to bypass US export restrictions. China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is currently reviewing purchase proposals from major technology firms, including ByteDance and Alibaba.
ByteDance is reportedly considering an order for 1 million units of the RTX PRO 5500. Alibaba has also submitted a purchase proposal. Revenue from these shipments is expected to be reflected in Nvidia’s fiscal Q1 2028 financial results at the earliest.
