Hardware leakers MEGAsizeGPU and hongxing2020 claim that Nvidia has halted production of the GeForce RTX 5090. The report cites a factory notice dated around October 10, 2026, suggesting the company is redirecting GB202 silicon to professional and AI data center products.
Nvidia has not officially confirmed the production halt as of October 12, 2026. The company has previously denied similar rumors regarding its hardware strategy. If the reports are accurate, all future GB202 chips will be allocated to RTX Pro workstation cards.
The RTX 5090 launched in January 2025 with a retail price of $1,999. Due to high demand for AI inference, secondary market prices for the card currently exceed $5,000, with some listings reaching $9,500.
The leaked notice also suggests the introduction of a new 24 GB RTX 5080, which would replace the 5090 as the top consumer model. Meanwhile, RTX Pro cards like the 5500 and 6000 models, which feature up to 96 GB of memory, can sell for approximately $15,000.
