Nvidia is reportedly planning to halt the production of its flagship GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards in the first half of January 2027. According to industry reports, the final shipments of the RTX 5090 arrived in September, while the last batches of the RTX 5080 are expected to reach retailers by the end of October.

Despite the production cut, the RTX 5080 series may continue with a new iteration. Sources indicate that a version featuring 24 GB of video memory is expected to replace the current 16 GB model early next year. A temporary product code for this upgraded variant has already been spotted in the inventory system of a major retail chain.

While the new 24 GB model is anticipated to carry a higher price tag than the existing version, the market landscape remains complex. Nvidia previously denied claims regarding the discontinuation of the RTX 5090, asserting that supply remains ongoing. Analysts suggest that high demand for chips and memory from data centers, driven by the AI sector, may be impacting component availability for consumer hardware.
