Nvidia has released the 621.12 Hotfix driver to address critical stability issues identified in the previous Game Ready 621.01 release. The update specifically targets video playback freezing and intermittent black screens reported by users of GeForce RTX 50 series cards, including the RTX 5080, and RTX Spark systems.
The technical glitches primarily occurred during video playback in browsers like Chrome and Edge, as well as the VLC media player. Nvidia acknowledged the issue on October 24 after receiving numerous user reports and collecting diagnostic logs. The new driver is currently available as an optional download for Windows 10 and 11.
Beyond video playback fixes, the update resolves crashes in Unreal Engine 5.8 triggered by the Hit Lighting mode. It also addresses image distortion on RTX Spark systems when using StarTech Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI 2.0 adapters, and fixes screen flickering issues on MSI N16 Flip laptops.
The 621.12 release is based on the latest Game Ready driver architecture but underwent a shortened testing cycle compared to WHQL-certified versions. Nvidia plans to integrate these fixes into the next official Game Ready driver release. The update is provided as a standalone package for both x64 and Arm64 platforms.
