Nvidia has appointed Chris Malone as the new vice president of its DSX Platform, effective September 24, 2026. Malone previously led data center operations at OpenAI for approximately one year, having joined the company in March 2025 and departing shortly before August 25, 2026, amid a leadership reorganization.

The DSX platform, which debuted on May 31, 2026, at GTC Taipei, provides a reference design ecosystem for data center hardware configuration. It focuses on optimizing AI performance through a combination of open-source software and hardware specifications, with a primary performance metric of tokens per watt.

The platform includes the DSX MaxLPS feature, which utilizes advanced cooling to increase the number of GPUs operating at peak efficiency by up to 40%. Early adopter Lambda has reported a 24% increase in token throughput using the system. Major manufacturers including Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and Supermicro are currently developing DSX-compatible hardware.
