Nvidia spent nearly $2.2 million on federal lobbying during the third quarter of 2026, marking the highest quarterly expenditure for the company to date. This brings the total lobbying spend for the first nine months of 2026 to $4.7 million.
The company is focusing its lobbying efforts on key policy areas, including export controls for advanced AI chips, particularly regarding sales to China. Other priorities include the implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act, data center energy efficiency, and the development of broader AI regulatory frameworks.
Nvidia’s disclosures highlight specific legislative interests, such as the National AI Commission Act and various provisions within the National Defense Authorization Act. These filings were submitted between October 16 and October 20, 2026.
The company’s market capitalization exceeded $5 trillion as of mid-October 2026. Nvidia is not acting alone in these efforts, as other industry players, including Google, Intel, and Anthropic, are also actively lobbying on similar issues related to chip export restrictions.
