Nvidia has finalized the acquisition of the AI model distribution platform Hugging Face for $12.93 billion. The deal aims to expand Nvidia's commitment to open-weight AI models and encourage broader adoption of artificial intelligence across various developer communities.
Hugging Face currently hosts over 3 million models, 500,000 datasets, and 1 million applications. The platform serves more than 18 million developers and researchers, while over 200,000 companies utilize the service for model evaluation and deployment.
Nvidia plans to maintain the platform's support for multiple clouds and accelerator architectures. The company intends to leverage its engineering resources and global infrastructure to enhance the platform's reliability, safety, and deployment capabilities.
Nvidia is already a significant contributor to the platform, having published more than 500 models and 250 open datasets. The Hugging Face team will join Nvidia, with founder Clément Delangue initiating the deal to support the platform's future growth.
