Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed concerns regarding the potential risks of artificial intelligence during a recent interview with CBS News. He explicitly rejected predictions that AI could lead to the extinction of humanity by 2030, stating that the probability of such an event occurring by that year is zero.
Huang emphasized that the technology can be managed safely and argued against the necessity of implementing new regulatory frameworks. His comments follow recent public concerns raised by former Anthropic employee Jacob Coxon, who suggested that some researchers fear AI could pose a lethal threat to humanity by the end of the decade.
Despite the ongoing debate, the Nvidia CEO maintains that the industry should continue its rapid development pace. He stressed that companies must prioritize safety and should not release or deliver products until they are fully prepared and verified as secure.
