Nvidia has entered a multiyear strategic partnership with Synopsys, marked by a $2 billion investment in the company's common stock. The deal, announced on December 1, 2025, saw Nvidia acquire shares at a price of $414.79 each, transitioning from a long-term customer to a shareholder.
The collaboration aims to integrate Nvidia’s high-performance computing, agentic AI, and digital twin technologies into Synopsys’ electronic design automation software. The technical stack utilizes Nvidia’s CUDA, NVIDIA NIM, and the NeMo Toolkit to enhance chip planning, simulation, and verification processes.
Performance metrics indicate significant efficiency gains. Circuit simulation on Nvidia’s Grace Blackwell platforms is projected to run up to 30x faster. Additionally, the Synopsys AgentEngineer tool is expected to deliver up to 50x faster verification signoff and productivity improvements of 20–30%.
Beyond chip design, the partnership targets accelerated applications in molecular and electromagnetic simulation. Synopsys has confirmed that the agreement is non-exclusive, allowing the company to continue its work with other semiconductor firms, including direct competitors of Nvidia.
