The NTI Fund, established by Vladimir Putin, acquired a 3% stake in the private space company Sputniks, which is controlled by AFK Sistema. The transaction was recorded in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities on October 7, 2026. Following this, the stake held by the parent company, GK Sputniks, decreased from 75.04% to 72.04%.
The investment focuses on the Pallada project, a scalable platform for low-orbit small satellites weighing 80–200 kg. This platform is designed for Earth remote sensing, radar, and broadband internet. The NTI Fund stated that the acquisition allows it to monitor the project's progress, review financial documentation, and ensure the practical application of developed technologies.
Sputniks reported a net loss of 260 ₽ million for 2025, compared to a profit of 150 ₽ million in 2024. Revenue fell by 50% to 462 ₽ million. The parent entity, GK Sputniks, also reported an increased net loss of 937 ₽ million for 2025. Experts attribute these financial results to high R&D costs, long investment cycles, and the capital-intensive nature of the space industry.
Despite the losses, the company continues its operations and plans to launch the Kinosputnik high-resolution satellite in 2026. The NTI Fund emphasized that the 3% stake does not grant control over the company but serves as a mechanism for tracking the results of state-supported projects. The company views the partnership as a source of expert and financial support for its ongoing development.
