Nous Research has secured $90 million in a Series B funding round, bringing the company's valuation to $1.5 billion. The investment was led by Robot Ventures, with participation from NVIDIA, Microsoft’s M12, Samsung, Y Combinator, Union Square Ventures, and Menlo Ventures. This latest influx of capital brings the total funding raised by the lab to approximately $160 million.

The company plans to allocate these funds toward the development of Hermes Agent, an autonomous AI assistant launched in February 2026 under an MIT license. Since its release, the agent has been downloaded or cloned over 24 million times and currently accounts for roughly 2.5% of global AI token inference usage.

A key objective for the new capital is the launch of 'Hermes for Businesses.' This enterprise-focused version will include features such as Single Sign-On, detailed auditing, and workspace controls. Additionally, the company intends to develop a mobile application for the agent while maintaining its open-source status.

Founded in 2023 by Jeffrey Quesnelle, Karan Malhotra, Ryan Teknium, and Shivani Mitra, Nous Research previously raised $70 million in an earlier funding package, which included a $50 million Series A round led by Paradigm in April 2025. This earlier stack utilized Simple Agreements for Future Tokens, distinguishing the lab's capital history from other AI firms.
