Nitecore has introduced the NL1840AW, a lithium-ion battery of the 18650 format. The device is designed for extreme cold conditions, maintaining functionality at temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius. At this temperature and at an altitude of up to 10,000 meters, the battery can provide approximately 65% of its nominal capacity.

The 'AW' in the name stands for All-Weather. The battery features a capacity of 4000 mAh at a nominal voltage of 3.7 V, which equals an energy reserve of 14.4 Wh. Unlike standard lithium-ion cells, this model is designed to operate without an external heating system in cold environments.

The 18650 form factor allows the installation of the battery into compatible flashlights, electronics, and other equipment designed for replaceable elements of this size. The battery has a declared resource of at least 500 charging cycles.

The NL1840AW is protected against water according to the IPX6 standard. It also includes a built-in pressure relief valve to protect the element during sudden temperature increases. The unit is priced at $30 per piece.
