Firefly, an electric vehicle brand owned by Nio, has introduced a 60-kWh battery pack for its compact city car. This new option increases the vehicle's CLTC range from 420 km to 560 km, representing a 33% improvement. The new battery utilizes ternary lithium cells, maintaining the same physical dimensions and vehicle weight as the standard 42-kWh lithium iron phosphate version.

Owners who purchased the vehicle outright can upgrade to the 60-kWh pack for a price difference of ¥17,000. For users on the battery-as-a-service plan, the permanent upgrade fee is ¥3,000, with a monthly rental cost of ¥599. New buyers can select the 60-kWh battery at the time of order, with outright purchase prices starting at ¥136,800.

The company has implemented a promotion for first owners who ordered the 42-kWh model on or before October 22, 2026. Eligible battery-as-a-service users can receive a ¥1,000 service fee coupon, while outright owners are offered 20,000 points. Upgrades must be completed by December 31, 2027, and require at least one year of ownership.

The new battery pack is compatible with existing vehicles through the brand's battery swap system. Firefly recently gained access to Nio's fifth-generation battery swap stations. The brand, which launched in April 2025, reported cumulative deliveries of 90,000 units as of October 16, 2026, with 7,327 vehicles delivered in September.
