Nio founder and CEO William Li addressed employees on September 8, outlining the company's core strategy for the next three years. The focus will remain on the main automotive business, high-end positioning, and core markets. Li emphasized that Nio will continue to approach the embodied AI sector through strategic investments rather than making it a primary business line.
The company reported strong growth despite a challenging domestic market, where passenger vehicle sales dropped by over 20 percent in the first eight months of the year. Nio delivered 262,893 vehicles from January to August, marking a 57.9 percent year-over-year increase. All three of the company's brands achieved record sales during this period.
Nio maintains a focus on high-quality development, including profitability and operational efficiency. The company has achieved three consecutive quarters of profitability since Q4 of last year. Vehicle gross margin stands at approximately 18.5 percent, while service and community business margins range between 17 and 20 percent.
Li confirmed that a major new vehicle model is scheduled for release next year. He noted that the company has adjusted its product launch cadence to be more strategic. Furthermore, Nio continues to expand its infrastructure, having established over 4,000 battery-swapping stations to support the growing adoption of pure electric vehicles.
