Nintendo has released firmware version 23.0.0 for the Switch 2 console. The update introduces support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) in docked mode, allowing the console to synchronize output with the frame rate of compatible televisions or monitors. To utilize this feature, users must also update the Switch 2 dock.
The firmware update adds a new video output information section within the display settings, enabling users to view the resolution and refresh rate supported by their connected display. Additionally, the Mii editor now includes background music, and the handheld mode enhancement feature can be activated directly from the quick settings menu.
Data management capabilities have been expanded to allow for a full transfer of information between two Switch 2 consoles. Users can now migrate all saved data, screenshots, and other files from an older device to a new one, streamlining the transition process for console owners.
