Nikon is preparing to launch a new high-end APS-C camera, the Z70. The model was identified through a recent FCC certification filing for the N2416 wireless remote controller, which included a schematic of the camera featuring a unique top-panel layout.
The camera will reportedly feature a 41-megapixel non-stacked sensor paired with an EXPEED 7 image processor. Technical specifications include support for 8K 60p video recording and a 120fps viewfinder refresh rate that maintains continuous autofocus and auto-exposure tracking.
The Z70 is expected to incorporate technology from RED and support Apple ProRes RAW recording. The body design includes a dedicated REC button on the top panel, and the device will feature a 5.76-million-dot electronic viewfinder, matching the specifications of the Z6III.
Additional features include a new digital teleconverter mode, which allows users to achieve longer equivalent focal lengths without changing lenses. The camera is positioned as a high-end addition to the Nikon APS-C lineup.
