New York and Wyoming have officially launched a joint initiative to coordinate their cryptocurrency regulatory frameworks. This partnership aims to align state-level oversight with federal standards as the industry prepares for new regulatory shifts.

The collaboration follows an announcement from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency regarding the GENIUS Act. Final rules for this legislation are expected to be published by the end of October 2026.

The GENIUS Act, which became law in July 2025, establishes a framework for stablecoin issuers. It permits certain issuers to operate under state regulations that meet federal standards, while larger entities remain under direct federal supervision.
