The new software utility NvpwrControl, developed by LevinAi-arch, allows users to increase power limits for mobile GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards. This tool aims to boost gaming performance by bypassing factory-set power constraints on laptop GPUs.
Initial testing focused on the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 Gen 10 laptop equipped with an RTX 5070 Ti. The original power limit of 115 W, supplemented by a 25 W Dynamic Boost, was successfully increased to 180 W, representing an improvement of nearly 30 percent.
The developer also confirmed experimental support for the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 mobile GPUs. For these higher-end models, the power limit can be adjusted up to 225 W. While performance benchmarks are currently unavailable, the significant power increase is expected to impact output.
The author of the tool warns that such modifications carry risks. Laptop cooling systems and power delivery components may not be designed to handle the increased thermal and electrical load, potentially leading to hardware instability or failure.
