The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has officially released a new international standard for electrical relays, specifically focusing on coil characteristics. This document, titled 'Electrical Relays - Tests and Measurements - Part 3: Coil Characteristics,' establishes unified testing protocols for the industry.
Chinese experts led the project, collaborating with specialists from Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and Japan. The standard defines testing conditions and procedures for parameters such as coil resistance, impedance, inductance, power consumption, and transient suppression.
These technical specifications are critical for evaluating the performance and reliability of electromechanical relays used in industrial control, power systems, automotive, and telecommunications. The new framework provides a consistent technical basis for global manufacturers and testing agencies.
By addressing previous issues regarding insufficient detail and limited operability in existing standards, this release aims to facilitate international trade. It serves as a standardized reference for performance assessment and quality control across the global electrical relay market.
