Nettle, a provider of an AI-driven workspace for commercial insurance loss control, has secured $4.8 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round. The investment was led by MTech, with participation from Project A Ventures, Sure Valley Ventures, Portfolio Ventures, Ventures Together, and angel investors. This latest injection brings the company's total funding to $6.8 million, following a $2 million pre-seed round in March 2025.
Founded in 2024 by Jack Miller and Katya Kinane, the startup addresses operational bottlenecks in risk assessment. According to Nettle, loss control teams currently face backlogs of up to six months, while 40 percent of risk engineers are projected to retire by 2030. The platform integrates risk identification, data analysis, and reporting into a single workspace, utilizing AI to process images, audio, video, and documents to generate risk scores.
The technology is designed to accelerate risk inspections by a factor of five, allowing insurers to manage portfolios in Commercial Property, Liability, Construction, and Workers' Compensation. The platform supports cloud and on-premises deployment, catering to enterprise-grade security and regional data residency requirements. Nettle currently operates across Europe, the US, and Asia.
The company plans to utilize the new capital to scale its operations across the US and European markets. Additionally, the funds are earmarked for expanding the firm's engineering and go-to-market teams. By extending access to agents and policyholders, Nettle aims to enable the inspection of sites that were previously considered economically unfeasible to evaluate.
