Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested the development of a strategy to utilize blockchain technology and digital assets. The initiative aims to establish an alternative financial system capable of operating independently of traditional banking channels.

The government is exploring these measures as a contingency against potential international financial sanctions that could restrict the national banking system. Netanyahu confirmed that he has formally commissioned a plan to address these economic risks.

The Prime Minister provided no specific details regarding the technical framework, the blockchain networks involved, or a timeline for implementation. Experts note that while blockchain can facilitate transactions outside conventional infrastructure, it does not inherently bypass sanctions compliance requirements.

In addition to financial planning, Netanyahu addressed the future of national defense funding. He stated that Israel must prepare for a reduction in long-term military aid from the United States, emphasizing the need to strengthen domestic defense production to decrease reliance on foreign support.
