Nebius, an Amsterdam-based AI infrastructure firm, has secured agreements with several early-stage AI laboratories in the UK. The company specializes in constructing and operating data centers equipped with GPUs, providing compute power and specialized software for AI development to enterprise clients.
The company is currently expanding its UK presence, supported by a £1.7 billion investment plan for new facilities and the growth of its London R&D hub. Nebius already operates four data center sites in the UK and maintains additional infrastructure in Finland and France.
The firm has previously established compute contracts with major entities including Meta, Microsoft, Revolut, and Prima Mente. While specific names of the new UK partners remain undisclosed, the company confirmed they are early-stage ventures that have recently emerged from stealth mode.
Gary Tierney, General Manager for EMEA at Nebius, expressed support for the UK government's plans to reform restrictive non-compete clauses. He noted that removing these barriers could accelerate the growth of the local startup ecosystem by improving talent mobility.
