National Computer Corporation (NCC) and NIIma Progress, a subsidiary of GC Element, have signed a cooperation agreement to develop CAD tools for microwave integrated circuits. This partnership marks the first practical step toward establishing a full-cycle domestic design environment for microwave microchips, eliminating the need for foreign software solutions.
Under the agreement, NIIma Progress will provide technical expertise in microwave circuit design, while NCC will develop the software suite for end-to-end design, covering everything from initial schematics to final topology. The project aims to validate the software by testing it against real-world design tasks and manufacturing requirements.
The pilot project will involve designing microchips using the domestic CAD system and verifying their performance under conditions similar to industrial production. Following the design phase, the companies will analyze the results to refine the software tools and ensure compatibility with Russian semiconductor manufacturing processes.
This initiative is part of a broader effort managed by JSC NPO Critical Information Systems, a Rosatom subsidiary, to create an import-independent CAD route. The collaboration provides NCC with direct feedback from industry users, which is essential for the further development and industrial adoption of the software platform.
