NASA has officially announced the crew for the SpaceX Crew-14 mission, scheduled to launch to the International Space Station no earlier than the spring of 2027. The four-member team represents three different space agencies: NASA, JAXA, and Roscosmos.
The crew includes NASA astronaut Kayla Barron as commander and Chris Birch as pilot. Mission specialists for the flight are Makoto Suwa from Japan and Russian cosmonaut Arutyun Kiviryan. Upon arrival, the team will join the ISS-75/76 expeditions.
Kayla Barron is a veteran of the SpaceX Crew-3 mission, having spent 177 days in orbit in 2021. For Chris Birch, Makoto Suwa, and Arutyun Kiviryan, this mission will mark their first spaceflight. Kiviryan's participation continues the ongoing cross-flight program between NASA and Roscosmos.
The crew will focus on scientific research and technology demonstrations during their long-duration stay. These activities are intended to support future human exploration missions to the Moon and Mars, alongside research projects with applications for Earth.
