NASA and the US Department of Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding to share Earth-observation data and geospatial analytics. The partnership aims to provide farmers and ranchers with improved information regarding crop conditions and natural hazards.

The agreement was signed by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins at the University of Alabama. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to integrate space-based technical expertise with agricultural knowledge to enhance American competitiveness.

This deal follows a separate memorandum signed by NASA and the Department of Energy on Oct. 8. That agreement focuses on accelerating cooperation in space nuclear power and propulsion, covering the design, testing, and deployment of nuclear systems for orbital operations.

Separately, the European Defence Fund selected the French startup OSMOS X to lead a 30-month study on responding to orbital threats. The project is supported by approximately €4.5 million, or $5 million, and involves a coalition of seven European organizations.
