Mysten Labs and Google Cloud introduced the Verifiable Agent Arbiter (VAA) on October 6, 2026. This tool functions as an evidence layer designed to cryptographically verify that AI agents operate within their assigned authority.
The system separates data into two components: raw telemetry, such as prompts and tool calls, remains in customer-controlled Google Cloud Storage, while cryptographic proofs are stored on the Walrus platform and coordinated via the Sui blockchain.
VAA supports dispute resolution through Google’s Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, incident reconstruction, and long-term record retention. The records are designed to be resilient against quantum computing threats.
The solution integrates with Sui’s Agent Payments facilitator and the x402 protocol for service discovery and settlement. This launch follows the September 2025 integration of Google’s Agentic Payments Protocol with Sui.
The rollout begins with initial enterprise deployments, with wider availability planned for the future. The timing aligns with the 2027 enforcement of the EU AI Act, which imposes fines of up to €15 million or 3% of global annual turnover for noncompliance.
