Companies owned by Elon Musk, X and xAI, have officially withdrawn their antitrust lawsuit against Apple. The parties filed a motion to dismiss the claims, though they did not disclose the reasons for this decision or confirm if a settlement was reached.
The legal dispute originally centered on allegations that Apple and OpenAI conspired to stifle competition in the smartphone and generative AI markets. The plaintiffs claimed that Apple provided illegal preferential treatment to ChatGPT by integrating it into the Apple Intelligence suite across its devices.
Apple and OpenAI have consistently denied these allegations. Apple specifically maintained that its integration of ChatGPT was not an exclusive arrangement. Despite dropping the case against Apple, X and xAI intend to continue their separate legal battle against OpenAI.
