Elon Musk has reportedly invested approximately $1 billion into the media company Skydance. This capital injection follows the recent $110 billion merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The newly formed entity is led by co-CEOs David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz. Their primary objective is to integrate streaming services, specifically Paramount+ and HBO Max, alongside a broad portfolio of networks including CBS, CNN, MTV, TBS, Comedy Central, and Food Network.
The investment from Musk coincided with equity contributions from other backers, such as board member Laurene Powell Jobs. These funds are intended to support the company as it implements a cost-reduction strategy aimed at saving $6 billion over the next three years.
Musk maintains professional ties with the Ellison family. Larry Ellison, who joined the Tesla board in 2018, previously provided $1 billion to assist Musk in the acquisition of Twitter in 2022 and invested in Tesla in 2018.
