Multiply Labs Inc. has secured $75 million in a Series B funding round. The investment was led by medical researcher Patrick Soon-Shiong, with participation from over six other investors, including AstraZeneca plc and robotics manufacturer Teradyne Inc.

The startup develops robotics clusters designed to automate pharmaceutical manufacturing. These systems utilize robotic arms from Universal Robotics Inc., which are equipped with tactile sensors to monitor pressure on vials. The hardware is mounted on rail systems with built-in elevators for vertical movement.

An artificial intelligence model, trained on client data, manages the robotic workflows. The technology mimics manual production steps, allowing drugmakers to implement automation without requiring new regulatory approvals. The company currently focuses on the production of cell and gene therapies.

According to Multiply Labs, its platform can increase manufacturing throughput by 100 times while reducing the cost per dose by 74%. The company plans to utilize the new capital to expand its production capacity and broaden support for additional types of medical therapies.
