The MTS Link platform has introduced AI-powered Chinese language support for businesses in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The system provides real-time speech-to-text transcription and translation into 19 languages, including Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and others.
The technology is designed to handle the tonal nuances of Chinese speech. Previously, the platform's AI capabilities were limited to recognizing and translating only Russian and English. The system now accounts for context, slang, technical terminology, and abbreviations to improve translation accuracy.
The subtitle feature was originally launched in 2025, with real-time translation functionality added in the first quarter of 2026. Users can combine these subtitles with simultaneous interpretation services, allowing them to select different languages for audio and text output independently.
According to Vladimir Drozdov, Director of MTS in the region, the tool is intended to facilitate communication with Asian partners and support employee training. The company plans to continue expanding the list of supported languages in the future.
