According to Arkham data, wallets associated with the defunct Mt. Gox exchange currently hold 34,387.51 BTC, valued at approximately $2.88 billion. These holdings represent the final portion of assets awaiting distribution to creditors following the exchange's 2014 collapse.

The repayment process, managed by trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi, began in mid-2024. To date, approximately 19,500 out of an estimated 24,000 creditors have received their payouts. The remaining assets are intended for the several thousand creditors who are still awaiting their share.

Distributions are primarily conducted through major platforms such as Kraken and Bitstamp. In June 2026, the estate executed an internal transfer of over 10,400 BTC, which was valued at $739 million at the time. Analysts interpreted this movement as custodial reorganization rather than a market sale.

The trustee has set October 31, 2026, as the final deadline for creditor repayments. This date marks the conclusion of a recovery effort that began after the exchange lost an estimated 850,000 BTC during its collapse, having previously accounted for over 70% of global Bitcoin transactions.
