The open-source media player Media Player Classic – Home Cinema has released version 2.8.3. This update introduces a modern theme for dialogs and menus based on Windows 11 design language, including support for rounded corners. Users can toggle these visual changes in the advanced settings under ModernThemeStyle, regardless of their current Windows version.

The update also includes technical improvements, such as upgrading the MPC Video Renderer to version 0.10.8.2600 and the MediaInfo component to version 26.10. Furthermore, the EVR-CP and Sync rendering modes now support HLG tone mapping, and the parsing of CUE playlist files has been enhanced alongside general stability fixes.

Despite the visual refresh, the player retains its core functionality, including HDR playback, subtitle search, and streaming via yt-dlp. The software remains free and open-source under the GPL v3 license, supporting Windows 7 through 11 in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Development is currently maintained by the clsid2 community on GitHub.
