Mozilla has partnered with AI firm Mistral to launch the beta version of Firefox Smart Window in France. This browser feature is designed to assist users in managing complex search tasks and organizing information across multiple tabs and browsing sessions.
The tool helps users summarize complex topics and retrieve previously visited pages, reducing the need for manual history searches. It also organizes large numbers of open tabs by theme. Mozilla notes that the AI may occasionally provide inaccurate summaries, advising users to verify critical information against original sources.
A key focus of the collaboration is regional localization, with the current French version set to be followed by releases in the UK and Germany. The companies have committed to a zero-data-retention policy, ensuring that conversations are not stored on Mozilla servers and that Mistral does not use user data for model training.
