Morgan Stanley co-president Dan Simkowitz stated that the decision by AI labs like Anthropic and OpenAI to slow the release of advanced models will not impact industry demand or investment. The bank currently acts as an advisor to major industry players, including Nvidia, Broadcom, Google, and various LLM developers.
Morgan Stanley is reportedly a lead underwriter for the upcoming Anthropic IPO, working alongside Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Citi, and Barclays. While reports suggest the company could file for a listing as soon as next week, Simkowitz declined to confirm a specific timeline for the public offering.
Anthropic reached a valuation of nearly $965 billion in May. Simkowitz noted that the IPO market remains prepared for large-scale deals, citing the recent equity raise of $150 billion by Alphabet and SpaceX in June as evidence of continued capital availability.
The bank is actively integrating AI into its own operations, focusing on cybersecurity, research, and customer service. Simkowitz emphasized that despite debates over the timing of model releases, the core financial dynamics and capital expenditure on compute and chips remain unchanged.
