Moonshot AI is currently negotiating with former investors of Recurrent.ai to resolve a legal dispute dating back to 2024. The arbitration involves CEO Yang Zhilin and CTO Zhang Yutao and concerns allegations of misconduct during the company's founding period.

The claimants are seeking additional equity compensation, which could exceed $700 million based on a previous company valuation of $30 billion. Moonshot AI is now valued at approximately $50 billion following a funding round in May 2026 that exceeded $2 billion.

The startup has confidentially filed for an IPO in Hong Kong, targeting the first quarter of 2027. The company aims to raise between $3 billion and $5 billion through this offering. Total funding raised by the firm since its inception exceeds $5.5 billion.

To prepare for the listing, Moonshot AI converted from a limited liability company into a joint stock entity in July 2026. This restructuring was intended to comply with Chinese regulatory requirements for overseas listings.

In July 2026, the company also launched its Kimi K3 model. Additionally, Moonshot AI is currently in discussions with Microsoft, Amazon, and Google regarding potential hosting and revenue-sharing agreements.
