Monad, an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain, is pivoting its development strategy toward quantum security and institutional privacy. The network aims to attract institutional capital by implementing future-proof cryptography and confidential transaction settlement without sacrificing liquidity.
On September 28, 2026, the project released a post-quantum roadmap, starting with upgradeable account authentication. This system allows the network to adopt quantum-resistant schemes like ML-DSA without requiring users to migrate assets or change existing address structures.
On October 6, 2026, Category Labs introduced Monad Private Settlement. This design enables encrypted execution domains on the public blockchain, allowing for confidential transactions while maintaining access to shared liquidity pools.
The new architecture includes configurable validators and scoped auditor access to meet regulatory compliance requirements. These features are intended to provide transparency for specific auditors without exposing sensitive trading data to the public.
Currently, Monad reports a total value locked in DeFi between $940 million and $1 billion, with over 200 validators. The ecosystem already supports integrations with Aave, Morpho, Uniswap, and Curve, while targeting 10,000 transactions per second.
