The Moldovan government has unveiled a national roadmap to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. The strategy focuses on expanding charging infrastructure and setting specific targets for fleet electrification by the end of the decade.
The plan aims to increase the number of public charging stations from approximately 250 units in 2025 to at least 600 by 2030. Authorities mandate that at least 30 per cent of these new charging points must be installed outside the capital city, Chisinau.
By 2030, the government expects battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids to represent at least 15 per cent of the national vehicle fleet. This transition is projected to reduce road traffic CO2 emissions by at least 15 per cent compared to 2025 levels.
To support these goals, the state plans to attract private investment and develop specialized training programs for the electric vehicle sector. Minister Vladimir Bolea confirmed that a new legal framework will be introduced to align with the European TEN-T transport network requirements.
