Microsoft has released the stable version 155.0.4283.45 of the Edge browser. The update introduces native support for decoding JPEG XL images, which includes features like high dynamic range, wide color gamut, and animation support.
The browser's AI-powered tab management has been enhanced. Users can now receive suggestions for tab and workspace grouping, including recommendations for group names, visual styles, and labels. These settings are accessible via the privacy services menu.
Microsoft is phasing out the real-time video translation feature. The LiveVideoTranslationEnabled policy is scheduled for deprecation in future updates, with the rollout occurring in stages for current users.
The update includes several web platform improvements, such as support for CSS symbols and margin-trim, along with expanded window management APIs that allow web applications to control window states like minimizing and maximizing.
Security patches from the Chromium project are integrated into this release. Additionally, Microsoft has disabled the unload event handler by default for all page loads, advising developers to adopt alternative lifecycle management mechanisms.
