The Bing Wallpaper application from Microsoft now redirects users to Bing.com when they click on an empty area of their desktop. This behavior triggers once every 24 hours, and subsequent clicks within that timeframe do not open additional browser windows.
Tests indicate that this redirect occurs even when Google Chrome is set as the default browser on the system. Unlike a previous test version of the software from 2025, the current iteration of the application does not provide a setting to disable this functionality.
In addition to the desktop click behavior, the application displays prompts that encourage users to set Bing as their default search engine. These notifications appear regardless of the user's current default browser settings, including instances where Google Chrome is the primary browser.
