Microsoft has opened preorders for the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, with shipments scheduled to begin in November. The device is priced at $5,999. It features an anodized aluminum chassis designed to function as a heatsink, with a visual style inspired by the Xbox Series X.

The hardware is built on the Nvidia Arm-based RTX Spark platform and includes 128GB of unified memory. It operates within a 100-watt thermal envelope and incorporates Nvidia Tensor cores. The system is specifically optimized for local AI development tasks, such as prototyping agents and testing models with over 120B parameters.

As part of the Project Zenith initiative, the Dev Box comes with a specialized version of Windows 11 Pro. The software package includes preinstalled development tools like Visual Studio Code, Git, GitHub CLI, GitHub Copilot, WSL, Python, and Node.
