Microsoft has officially opened pre-orders for the Surface Laptop Ultra in the US, with a starting price of $2599. The device is built on the new NVIDIA RTX Spark platform, which integrates a high-efficiency CPU and a Blackwell-architecture GPU into a single system-on-chip. The platform delivers up to 1 Petaflop of AI computing power and supports the CUDA ecosystem.

The laptop features a unified memory architecture with up to 128GB of RAM, allowing users to run 120-billion-parameter AI models locally. To manage thermal output, the cooling system provides 2.5 times the heat capacity of the 15-inch Surface Laptop 7. The chassis is under 18mm thick and weighs less than 4.5 pounds, available in Platinum and Nightfall colors.

The display is a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra mini-LED touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, 262 PPI, and 2000 nits peak HDR brightness. The haptic touchpad area has increased by over 30% compared to the previous generation. Connectivity includes USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, a 3.5mm jack, an SD card reader, and a new magnetic USB-C charging solution.

Security features include a hardware-level root of trust architecture and Windows Hello facial recognition. Microsoft confirmed that the Call of Duty series will arrive on the platform in 2027. The device is capable of running hundreds of AAA games and is scheduled to begin shipping next Friday.
