Microsoft has officially stopped using the Copilot+ branding for its new laptops, including upcoming devices like the Nvidia RTX Spark N1X and the internal Project Zenith. Despite the removal of the label, these machines continue to meet the technical standards previously established for the Copilot+ category.

The company is also adjusting its hardware strategy due to a global memory chip shortage. Microsoft has removed the 32GB RAM recommendation from its website and launched new Surface for Business models equipped with 8GB of RAM. Windows 11 is being optimized to maintain performance on these lower memory configurations.

The decision to drop the branding follows the widespread integration of NPUs capable of reaching 40 TOPS or more in modern processors, making the specific label less relevant for market differentiation. Microsoft continues to develop AI features, including testing capabilities that run on discrete GPUs.

While the hardware branding is being phased out, Microsoft maintains that it remains committed to AI features within its software ecosystem. The company recently updated Copilot with new tools such as Home, Code, and Autopilot, and currently manages more than 80 unique AI-related product offerings.
