Microsoft has released the Administrative Templates (ADMX) for the Windows 11 2026 Update (26H2), designed to assist IT administrators in managing system configurations. The package, version 1.0, was released on September 29, 2026, and has a file size of approximately 14.6 MB.
The release includes a Group Policy Settings Reference Spreadsheet, sized at 787.6 KB, which allows administrators to filter and locate specific computer and user configuration policies using Excel. These tools are intended for use in domain environments via a Central Store.
Windows 11 26H2 introduces several security-focused features, including the Administrator Protection function, which can be enabled via Microsoft Intune or Group Policy. Additionally, the System Monitor (Sysmon) component is now built into the OS, though it must be manually activated by administrators.
The update also modifies Smart App Control, allowing users to toggle the feature on or off without requiring a clean installation of Windows. For enterprises using Mobile Device Management (MDM), Microsoft provides support for ADMX-backed policies through the Policy CSP, enabling configuration without traditional infrastructure.
