Microsoft has initiated a major update for the Windows 11 Bluetooth subsystem, currently testing nine key improvements. The initiative addresses long-standing user reports regarding unstable connections, device recognition failures, and poor audio quality across various peripherals like headphones, game controllers, and smartwatches.

The update optimizes the reconnection mechanism, allowing devices to automatically reconnect after system reboots or sleep modes. Additionally, the Bluetooth scanning logic has been refined to enhance device discovery, while the initial pairing process has been improved to increase success rates and speed.

Audio performance is a primary focus, with adjustments to routing and device switching to minimize latency and playback errors. The update also includes specific compatibility fixes for game controllers to resolve input lag and connection drops, alongside more accurate battery status synchronization for connected devices.

These nine improvements are currently available to Windows Insider testers. Microsoft has not yet announced a final release date, though the company expects to roll out these fixes to all Windows 11 users in the coming months, provided the testing phase proceeds successfully.
