Microsoft is reportedly preparing to allow Microsoft 365 Family and Premium subscribers to share Copilot AI features with other family members. Currently, these AI tools are restricted exclusively to the primary account holder, preventing other members from accessing them despite their shared subscription status.

The company plans to consolidate usage limits into a single, unified quota that will be shared among all family members across various Microsoft services. Subscribers will also have the option to purchase additional AI usage capacity if their allocated limits are insufficient for their needs.

While these changes are under development, Microsoft has not yet confirmed the specific launch date, regional availability, or the exact structure of the shared quota system. Official support documentation currently maintains that Copilot features remain exclusive to the primary subscriber.

This potential update coincides with upcoming changes to OneDrive storage policies. Starting October 7, 2026, new or renewed Family and Premium subscriptions will transition to a shared 2TB storage pool for all members, replacing the previous model where each of the six members received 1TB.
