Microsoft has suspended the distribution of the optional non-security update KB5002907 for Office. The update was intended to assist Microsoft 365 components that had not been updated for over 90 days in the current or monthly channels. However, the deployment resulted in unexpected issues for users.
Users running Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019 reported that the update caused their software to lose activation status. In some instances, the installation process led to the complete removal of the Office suite from the system. Affected users are unable to edit documents after the update and subsequent reboot.
To resolve the issue, Microsoft advises users to reactivate their software using their original product licenses. If the application was uninstalled during the update process, users must perform a fresh installation of their specific Office version and then re-enter their license credentials to restore full functionality.
